Letters to Troops overseas service project

Posted on Jul 19 2017 - 5:49pm
OCBSA forwarded this request from Congresswoman Mimi Walter's office. If you are interested in participating, write a letter within the guidelines below and bring it to Mr. Matthews. We will forward it to the Congreswoman's office for distribution. You will get service hours credit for the time you spend writing the letter.

Body of message:

My name is Ariana and I am reaching out from Congresswoman Mimi Walter’s district office in Irvine. We would like to invite the students/campers of the Orange County Council to participate in our “letters to the troops” program. Your students have the opportunity to show their appreciation for our deployed personnel through thoughtful letters that our office will deliver.  As you know, it is difficult for our troops to be away from family and friends, and these letters will serve as a small token of our appreciation for our heroes’ service and sacrifice.

Posted on Jun 26 2017 - 10:06pm

We created a new folder that pulls the Troop Advancement Process and the forms necessary, such as Scout Skills review checklists and the Application for Advancement form into a single folder location for ease of locating. Consult the Troop Advancement Process for step by step instructions on how to apply and get your advancement.

Storage Unit Alternative

Posted on Apr 29 2017 - 5:52pm

The Troop pays for a storage unit at Brea U-Store on Lambert Ave. to store our camping gear such as tents, stoves, etc. The monthly cost to rent this unit is quite high and recently increased from $180/moth to $190/month. The Troop is looking for a more affordable alternative, either in a commercial facility or at someone's home. The site has to be accessible in the evenings for gear pulls. If you have an idea on an alternative, please see Mr. Long or Mr. Matthews.
